UIC II Standard Open Wagon of Exceptional Quality

During the 1950s and 1960s, UIC II open wagons were the standard freight cars acquired across Europe. Many railway companies maintained extensive fleets of these wagons. Exact-Train has identified numerous subtle variations—and in some cases significant structural differences—between wagons from different railway administrations, which have never before been accurately reproduced in model form.

For several years, these differences have been carefully documented and faithfully incorporated into our models. The result is a highly detailed replica in which the distinctive national characteristics are rendered without compromise. Alongside the Klagenfurt, Duisburg, Linz, and Villach variants (currently in production), this wagon represents an important type for coal transport. Once again, Exact-Train has made every effort to create a robust and exceptionally detailed model.

Key Highlights

• Extremely thin side walls – faithfully reproduced for maximum realism.
• Refined metal underframe – produced using etching techniques, 50% finer than a plastic frame, ensuring a more realistic appearance and enhanced durability. (See illustration)
  For the FS version, the characteristic frame has been accurately replicated for the first time.
• Country-specific buffers – including sprung versions, even more true-to-life than before. (Example: SNCF buffer)
• Detailed braking systems per country – all variants meticulously reproduced on the underside. (Example: NMBS system)
• Fully detailed interior – including doors, wood grain, and fastening nails subtly recreated in the wooden floor. (See illustrations)
• Version-specific wheelsets – including disc wheels, spoked wheels (NMBS), and Leonard wheels (SNCF), precisely reproduced on both sides. (See illustrations)
• Delicate components in metal – such as steps and handrails, ensuring durability without compromising detail.
• Metal underframe – provides a lower centre of gravity, increased weight, and improved running performance.
• Free AC wheel replacement available via your specialist dealer.
