UIC II Open Freight Wagon

UIC II Standard Open Freight Wagon in exceptional quality!
In the 1950s and 1960s, UIC II open wagons were the standard freight wagons purchased throughout Europe. Many railway companies had large fleets of these wagons. Exact-Train noted that there are numerous differences in detail and, in some cases, even significant design variations between the wagons of different railway companies, which had never before been accurately reproduced in model form.
For several years, we have been carefully documenting these differences and incorporating them into our models. The result is a highly detailed replica in which the characteristic variants of each country are reproduced without compromise. Alongside the Klagenfurt, Duisburg, Linz and Villach wagons (currently in production), this wagon represents an important type for coal transport. Exact-Train has once again spared no effort in creating a robust and extremely detailed model.

Key highlights:

• Extremely thin walls – realistically reproduced.
• Slim metal frame on the underside – produced using etching technology to make it 50% finer than a plastic frame. This ensures a more realistic appearance and greater stability. (See illustration) For the FS version, the characteristic frame has been accurately reproduced for the first time!
• Correct buffers for each country – including spring-loaded versions, reproduced even more realistically than before. Example image: an SNCF buffer.Detailed B
• Braking systems for each country – all variants carefully reproduced on the underside. Example image: NMBS braking system.
• Fully detailed carriage interior – including doors, wood grain and fixing nails, subtly reproduced in the wooden floor. (See illustrations)
• Different wheel sets depending on the version – such as disc wheels, spoked wheels (NMBS) and Leonard wheels (SNCF), precisely reproduced on both sides. (See illustrations)
• Delicate parts (steps, handrails, etc.) made of metal – for greater stability without losing detail.
• Metal underside – gives the carriage a low centre of gravity, increased weight and, consequently, improved running characteristics.
