Prototype
On the romantic Jagst Valley Railroad in Baden-Württemberg over the course of its 125 year old history there was a meeting of many vehicle rarities. Among them was also a small, but fine steam locomotive that went by the affectionate name “Nicki S.”. Its story reads like a fairy tale with an unusual Happy End. This narrow gauge locomotive with a tender was “born” in the extremely restless times of World War II. In 1941 Henschel delivered the rather common HF 110 C 25982 designated locomotive to the German Army. In 1948 was taken over by the Austrian Federal Railroader as road number 798.101, but it was only used until 1952. From that time on this steam horse waited for the scrap cutter or a prince, who would save it from its sad fate. It finally came in the person of the Bielefeld entrepreneur Walter Seidensticker, who acquired road number 798.101 and overhauled it extensively to appear in new glory. Its proud owner was so enthusiastic about his new decorative locomotive that he used his daughter’s name ‘Nicki S.’ for it. Starting in 1984 this locomotive thrilled visitors from near and far in the delightful Jagst Valley between Möckmühl and Dörzbach. When operations were halted there, Seidensticker brought his “Nicki” to the short line steam line Mühlenstroth close to him, where it can still be admired as “Nicki und Frank S.”. However, it cannot be run to the festivities in the Jagst Valley, because it no longer runs on 750 mm / 30 inch gauge. It has been regauged to 600 mm / 24 inch. In its place its sister locomotive 99 4652 is coming to Dörzbach and will remind people of when a HF 110 C locomotive steamed through the picturesque valley. Our two models can then festively celebrate on the LGB Railroad the major Jagst Valley Anniversary.
