Background information

Like his student Anakin, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi also relies on the Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor. This ship marks the technological peak of the Republic era: it is smaller, lighter and significantly more maneuverable than its predecessors. To achieve this performance, heavy shields and an internal hyperdrive were dispensed with, leaving the pilot almost entirely reliant on the power and support of his astromech droid. The R4-P17 shown here (recognizable by its red dome) was Obi-Wan's loyal companion on many missions, up until that fateful mission over Coruscant.
